To start with in the beginning: God created the
human being in a wonderful way and he was allowed to live in paradise. However,
he decided to disobey God and, even worse, wanted to be like God himself. But
God is entirely holy, good and loving, but also altogether just righteous. Because
of that, there is a problem. God is holy in such a pure way that man, now full
of sin and thereby unholy, would immediately have to die in his presence. So
man is separated from God. But where’s the problem in this? God is righteous
and just. This demands a punishment for the sinful man. The punishment is hell.
But not what is pictured as hell today, hell is the eternal separation from
God. It means eternal torment, suffering and desperation. But there is
something strange. Aren’t we already separated from God? Furthermore, isn’t the
life on this earth a bearable hell, at least for some people? No, that’s not
true. God is not only just but also personalized love, he loves you. And that’s
why he allowed a time of grace to take place before the final judgement
arrives. This time is there for you to make use of. Why?
To explain that we take a trip back in time, to
the year when God sent his son Jesus Christ to earth. He was humiliated and
made like the men he had created. He had to eat, drink, sleep and felt pain as
we do. God humiliated him. But why? So that Jesus, the son of God, dies on a
cross, a cruel instrument of torture. By that he paid for the sins of the whole
mankind. Jesus was fully human, but in the same time he was also fully God. The
difference between him and us is that he was without sin. Never. He never lied,
never cheated, he loved the people, healed the sick ones, he was never jealous
or greedy and there was nothing bad in him. He was altogether holy, and that’s
the reason why he was able to pay for our sins. That’s exactly what he did:
Jesus died and thereby he took our sins with him to death. BUT he did not
remain dead. He rose again on the third day and he is still alive and will ever
be. More than 500 people witnessed his resurrection. Jesus returned back to
heaven to his father and he will come again. Then he will be the judge over all
the people. Over me and over you. And there is no sin he doesn’t know of. None
of mine and none of yours. But, one could argue, if Jesus died for the whole
mankind and paid for their sins, then didn’t he pay for mine and yours, too?
That’s right, BUT: Everyone, every individual person must accept this offer of
rescue, this present of forgiveness. Say, if you had an accident with your car
and then there is someone telling you he will pay the price for repairing your
car. Then you either have to accept this offer in the first place or you will
have to pay yourself. It works the same way with God. He offers you a present,
he sacrificed his son for. But you have to accept it or it won’t have any
effect. You would still be separated from God and when Jesus returns to earth
he will judge you, whether you’re alive or have already died, since all the
death will rise again.
I want to call you, God calls you, Jesus calls
you. Take the gift. Experience forgiveness, escape hell and the final
judgement. Moreover, God wants you to be his child. He wants to be a father to
you, and believe me, he is the greatest father, greater than one could ever
imagine. You won’t have to be afraid of death again. When you close your eyes
on this earth, you will open them again and be in heaven, in the presence of
God.
If you want to achieve forgiveness and to
become a child of God, simply pray to him. Tell him that you believe: Jesus
died for my sins and he rose again. Thank him for paying for your sins. Ask for
forgiveness and offer him your life. So that it’s him who should decide what’s
happening in your life. Grant him full control of your life. Trust me, it’s the
best thing you can do.
To go on:
Read the bible. God uses it as a way to talk to
you. Moreover, you will get to know him better.
Pray. You can tell him everything, whether it’s
joy, whether it’s sorrow, whether it’s fear. Everything. He is glad to hear you
talk with him. He will care for you. He loves you.
Seek community with fellow children of God.
Visit a church. That’s what God wants his children to do.
